Allow me to run another tangent off of this. Last night at the Detroit Grand Pubahs video release party, my man (kevin) Moonstarr from Toronto dropped the bomb on us. I literally felt a new genre (aka mutant funk virus) being released on the unsuspecting crowd. I called it Tech-Hop at the time, which is an exceedingly lame genre name. But it was a jaw-dropping stew of hard, almost distorted crunchy hip-hop drums, in perfect freestyle tempo, but accented with repetitive hiccuping stabs and samples. Watch this man. The Pubahs also dropped some new gems. Doc Toefinger has been working on channeling the spirit of Doc Funkenstein, with great success. Todd Sines was also in fine form, laying down his latest minimal bleep seduction at the end of his set. And it WAS a family affair. Ol-skool reprezent! -- There4IM
