heiko laux has made some great records, ranging from dark and melodic to
hard and funky techno. here's a few recommendations:

mainplateau ep (i220) - nice floaty sparkly track on the long side, funky
dark sub-bassy stuff on the flip

dedicated to all believers ep (yoshitoshi/kanzleramt) - deep swirly
slow-paced melodic stuff on 'moonside playground' and some basic
channel-style ethereal work on the flip.

souldancer ep (kurbel) - funky densely-orchestrated melodic techno with
heavy bass. very powerful record.

the old school street (i220) - double pack of heiko's collaborations with
people like anthony rother, johannes heil... some deep but midtempo
tracks with the basic channel haze, cool broken beat stuff with rother.

liquidism lp (kanzleramt) - well-done full-length of various styles,
including manic hard techno, eerie cuts, more melodic stuff, and electro.

sense fiction mini-lp (kanzleramt) - great breakbeat/electro tracks with
cool melodies that nod both to detroit techno and to idm. the cd has a
couple of extra cuts, one of which is amazing...it's a shame it's not on
the vinyl.

i'd get sense fiction first, since it's most recent and probably easiest
to find. make sure it's the original. the remixes aren't bad either (esp
surgeon + villalobos) but you won't get an idea of his style that way.
