Here here! To say that the old Style of Detroit Electronic music is on its
way out is absurd with UR still putting out quality tunes, Transmat
Rejuvinated with artists like Tony Drake and Neil Ollivierra, Ian O'Brien
making some of the most beautiful music ever clearly part inspired by
Detroit techno, the DEMF celebrating the music in such a succesful
way...etc. True, all these artists are moving techno forward into new
realms, but come on....

To say this is like saying techno was mostly associated with the Dutch
Gabber movement that DJs like Lenny Dee promoted at raves worldwide in the
mid nineties or that it is mostly associated with the minimulist styles of
Rob Hood and Maurizio. All of these styles exist in part because of the
original innovations by artists like May, Saunderson, Atkins et al, and
sure, some people will have different definitions and ideas about what
techno means to them, but to make such a sweeping statement like that is
pretty unsound.
