Here is a great letter from Wanye Kramer explaining the relationship the MC5 and Sun Ra developed, and how it lead to their appearence at the festival.

Yes, the MC5 werent at that fest (as it was in 72'), but played many times with the Akestra in the years prior to their appearance there.

there is a video tape of the performance out there but hard I think it was
in '73????
but it was the same year as howlin wolf & jlh if I remember right. it has
ben some years sence I saw the tape.
I dont remember the mc5 being on it though.
