Very true, but you're refering to the big time music business there. They allocate more copies for promos than the techno labels so they may feel tthe need to keep account of them sent out as promos. On the other hand, since we see em' in the store bins, it show us how much they really care at the end of the day. I figure the reason they put that stamp on there to insure the stations would play them and not sell them. Perhaps techno labels need to start putting that same stamp on their promos and it makes more sense because of smaller budgets.

Not that it makes a real world difference, but nearly all the promos we
get at my radio station say "this promotional copy is the property of the
record company and must be returned upon request". But I frequently find
the duplicates in the record store's used bin. :)
