The um vocal on French Kiss is annoying the fourth time you hear it
and cheesy thereafter, but it's a classic novelty tune (I guess)
which explains why it hit #2 on the UK charts in 1989.  

But actually, there's more to it than that, as I was reminded when
John Acquaviva played it in Portland a couple years ago.  That
record has one of the hugest basslines ever, and you can really
feel it on a good big system.

ffrr gave Little Louie a record contract after he hit the charts
and that is why French Kiss was on the 1998 "Classics" reissue
that is still findable in the stores on vinyl.  I think the
original was on Diamond but obviously it could have been around
for quite a while before on tape and test pressing, and gotten
into Derrick's hands that way.  I mean, you can just imagine
what a bit of vinyl lightning French Kiss would have been for a
DJ before the commercial release.
