The um vocal on French Kiss is annoying the fourth time you hear it and cheesy thereafter, but it's a classic novelty tune (I guess) which explains why it hit #2 on the UK charts in 1989.
But actually, there's more to it than that, as I was reminded when John Acquaviva played it in Portland a couple years ago. That record has one of the hugest basslines ever, and you can really feel it on a good big system. ffrr gave Little Louie a record contract after he hit the charts and that is why French Kiss was on the 1998 "Classics" reissue that is still findable in the stores on vinyl. I think the original was on Diamond but obviously it could have been around for quite a while before on tape and test pressing, and gotten into Derrick's hands that way. I mean, you can just imagine what a bit of vinyl lightning French Kiss would have been for a DJ before the commercial release. phred --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
