Tech-house has been around for a while, at least 5 years or more by that name. It's definately not trance either. Check out the old records on Central or Grow! labels for good examples. Although some tech-house could be called "trancey", its definately not trance.
forgot to add the sarcasm notes apparently. For those who don't know, a lot of artists who used the 'prog-house' genre to get away from saying they spun trance, now say they spin 'tech-house' for the same reason (max graham, sasha, timo maas, etc).
