As I heard on the Detroit public schools radio station here this
morning--the cuts are the result of two things: a state-wide 55 cent per
pupil reduction, and a federal reduction due to the fact that other cities
(like the D.C. public schools) are getting a bigger share of previously
allocated "poverty funds." In other words, other schools are now as poor or
poorer than the Detroit public schools and therefore get some of Detroit's
money. Got to balance that budget. It's unbelievable.

I don't think it's boring and I would love to have the sentence Martin lined
out explained as well... Give us some insight, Diana!

Maybe, it's just the whole way language is used - long weekend talking about
such stuff but I won't bore you with it :/

> When a child comes from a low socio-economic household

> academically for a child and also in terms of school
> financial support.

Can you explain what you mean here? Off list if you like...

Martin
