what i think plays an important role in the decline of 313-techno being discussed on this list compared to, say 4 or 5 years ago, are a couple of factors:

1. most people now subscribed have been on this list for a long time, and have allready heard/read all the "who is drexciya" threads etc. so once a question pops up, it either gets answered quickly, or it passes everyones attention, as it seems "irrelevant".

2. the "knowledge" available outside of the list has grown enormously. was the 313-list one of the few places to get information on drexciya, s.i.d., retroactive records or santonio echols, nowadays a google search will provide you with information, where a couple of years ago all you got was a link to a recordstore when typing "drexciya" into google.

3. if you go back to the '94 archives, and up to the late 90ies, a lot of information is shared on the period from '86-'94. all this information is now "common knowledge", so it doesn't get discussed anymore, whereas a couple of years ago it made up for 20% or so of the total information flow on the 313-list.

4. and perhaps not as much techno is coming from detroit as it was a decade ago, where the rest of the world has caught up.

all these factors combined, result in a decrease of "on topic" posts.
