They always have big bust-ups when someone wants to spread their wings
and go it alone. It seems to happen without fail. But then, from what I
can see, things never stay acrimonious to the extent that there's no
friendly contact and even co-operation afterwards. At least this has
been the case in the past.

As Mike Bank has said on more than one occasion and referring to more
than one former UR person, once you've been a member, you're always
regarded as a part of the fold at least, family at best.

We'll see in this case though.
