It's pretty deep that's for sure, the masked layers only give so much
over the 'phones, crank that sucker up tho and sit in the middle of the
speakers, that's the stuff, right there...
Some of the new Ae album is like that, just need to get use't to the
harsh cold sounds, there's certain little "soul" to found...

originals (which the remixes are totally bereft of) was in some way
defective.
Having said all that, the Substance rework is Peter Kuschnereit at his
best (even if he might as well just have handed in a brand new track!)
