I 2nd this thought. I have a pair or ear plugs that are given to the GM employes and the ear plugs cut out the hi-end frequencies that are harmful to the ear, 12-16k range. I like them as it does make talking to people a lot easer in a loud environment.

I swear, though I have no real scientific evidence or anything other than my word to give you, that you can understand people better in a loud concert (110-120db) when you DO have earplugs in, AND it significantly increases the fidelity of the sound.

Earplugs are always a potential but it can be difficult practically as I find they have to be put in / taken out very often (for talking to people,
ordering from the bar etc).
