I agree with you, I made the investment about 1 year ago
And now I would not be caught at a club without them.
And they were only around $150 bucks US

They're a bit pricey, but a good pair of custom earplugs with a flat
frequency response is probably the best "gear" investment you can make if
you spend a lot of time around amplified music.
I bought a pair when I was a gigging drummer and use them now for electronic
shows.  I wouldn't dream of going to a club without them.
