Is it just me or is anybody else sick of the
fish-feed-create-the-*news*-to-justify-our-existence hype train which the "news"
coverage has bought into these days? Most of that shit isn't news....exposing
so-called scandals of which anybody with half a clue has been aware for years,
milking anything which is remotely newsworthy completely dry until you get numb
ad
nauseum, wasting airtime on trivial crap, baiting people with stupid "teasers"
which turn out to be even more insipid than the foreshadowing appears. They
don't
give a rip about anything but ratings and the sensationalism they think they
need
to drum up to get them. I love the little vignettes you see around the holidays
which show how "caring" and "community oriented" the good folks are at your
local
TV station. It adds a lovely touch of irony to the absurdities which pass for
news
these days. Sorry to rant - this has been something sticking in my craw and
getting
progressively worse for years. My wife and I are aghast/agog over this. Maybe we
should do an expose on yellow journalism in news coverage :-).
