point well taken. the name does make a difference to a small extent.
although i think the difference might be, the jazz fest is something that grew the demf was beyond huge its first year. set up the turntables and they will come. call it derrcik may's detroit techno how-down. it doesn't matter too much. anyways, the point i was really getting at was that derrick owning the name doesn't give him any control over who or what happens at hart plaza every memorial day from now until .... its still a FREE and PUBLIC festival, put on by the city of DETROIT.
