I am pretty sure he meant if you did not purchase a static ip from your DSL provider, then it will change on and off. This is true. Most DSL providers will let you purchase a static IP for additional cost. Otherwise, the default is usually dynamic...

When I had cable a few years back the IP address didn't change for the entire 2 years. If you want to check your IP address I have a page that does that at www.skooch.com/IPFinder.cfm DSL on the other hand is truly dynamic.
