Beatmatching is just plate spinning. I agree. Anyone can learn it and it's technique not an act of creativity.
I'm not saying people need to beatmatch to be creative with music when djing and neither is Hawtin.
Y'know I am sick to death of lazy djs in my town. I don't give a shti what delivers the sounds and I agree that selection is super important (in fact much much more important than plate spinning). I also like to hear things imaginatively mixed together (I can't believe I'm actually saying this on a list that has some techno orientation - it should be taken as read). There are ways of combining these two things if you know what you are doing. That is all I'm saying.
