Without wanting to be too harsh on the organisers or the spirt of the festival,
major headliners at a festival that hopes to attract international punters
should be announced at least 3 to 4 months in advance at the earliest. The
summer period is ridiculously laden with festivals in Europe, and in most cases
people can only afford 1 or 2 at the very most and have to make decisions in
Jan or Feb from a financial perspective because hotels, flights and the like go
up as demand increases.

It's a shame if Detroit has to lose out.

Excellent points Francis, about the commercial side. Their approach is
not geared towards music lovers, and it's a shame in the eyes of
people like us. I think they're already putting on all the music they
like though and wouldn't consider what they're doing as making
concessions. The change in the musical nature of the event was
intentional and favorable in their eyes.
