well, Begin SQL/End SQL is not thread safe either so that's not going to help.

but back to the original point:

LOG EVENT has many modes, is there a particular type of log that you wish were 
thread safe?

because, technically, you could just call a command with arguments and that 
would be recorded in the debug log without the use of a LOG EVENT...
