I have v15 running as service on remote Virtual machine and I can connect with 4D remote without problem. In the service properties under the general tab what do you have as the path to the executable. For example mine is.
C:\Program Files (x86)\4D\4D v15.4\4D Server\4D Server.exe -s "C:\Compare_Server\Compare\Compare\Compare.4DC" My guess is that when you run the application as a service it is unable to find the compiled application to launch so although for the server runs it doesn't know which application to open.
