Hi All, I’ve been trying to create a process for installing a cross-platform volume application. I’ve been modeling the approach off of 4D TN "18-15_Application Signing with 4D” which cover both Macintosh and Windows.
I got the Macintosh side handled (installer is DMG Canvas $20) now I am trying to create an approach on the windows side. I have found the windows side to be unintuitive (even with the TN) and confusing. I think I’m going to try to do this wth Inno Setup for the installation. But the code signing certificate has thrown me ONLY because of the cost. It appears there are three options: 1. "Self-Assign" (like in the TN) at $0 but will it work as a “trusted” application? 2. "Signing Certificates for Individuals" at $85 or more per year. 3. Something called "Extended Validation Code Signing” which is like #300 or more per year. Obviously when developing a market keeping cost to a minimum is important! Also it’s important that the User/Customer have the least number of problems installing as possible. Then once this is done there are some other steps required that can incorporate the certificate. For those who have had to install for an application was the code signing certificate under #2 above workable? Were customers able to install without issue? Were there any other challenges? Are there any simple and inexpensive graphical installer apps like “DMG Canvas” that work on windows? Any if you have a more effective approach I am truly all open mind and open ears!! Appreciate, John… ********************************************************************** 4D Internet Users Group (4D iNUG) Archive: http://lists.4d.com/archives.html Options: https://lists.4d.com/mailman/options/4d_tech Unsub: mailto:4d_tech-unsubscr...@lists.4d.com **********************************************************************
