hi blue I,

well I am not sure if this is what you would be interested in but
alesis has a uUSB midi controller with a sound interface that is 96khz
24bit capable (the photon x25). It has a left and right audio in and
out and a headphone out. nice thing is that it is all quarter inch
jacks. I have used it in jack with the ALSA driver and is available in
the "sound" control panel as an option for the system sound card as
well (although I never tested it to see if it works as a sytem card).
However it does work great as an input device for jack (I run my
guitars through it all the time), as an output I haven't tested it but
being that studio 64 found it ok from the install I would imagine it
would work fine. if you would like I can try to test it in the next
day or two to verify that for you. I must say though being a 2 octive
midi keyboard too it may not be your best option on space and runs
around 200 us dollars if I remember correctly.
