Hi all :) because of problems with the proprietary ATI driver and DVD-RAM I tried to install a second Kernel.
Could anybody please be so kind and try to install a second kernel? Something seems to be wrong for my 64 Studio. Synaptic e.g. gives messages like this: Selecting previously deselected package kernel-image-2.6-amd64-generic. (Reading database ... 174559 files and directories currently installed.) Unpacking kernel-image-2.6-amd64-generic (from .../kernel-image-2.6-amd64-generic_1%3a2.6.18+6etch3_amd64.deb) ... Setting up kernel-image-2.6-amd64-generic (2.6.18+6etch3) ... And this: Selecting previously deselected package kernel-image-2.6-amd64-k8-smp. (Reading database ... 174559 files and directories currently installed.) Unpacking kernel-image-2.6-amd64-k8-smp (from .../kernel-image-2.6-amd64-k8-smp_1%3a2.6.18+6etch3_amd64.deb) ... Setting up kernel-image-2.6-amd64-k8-smp (2.6.18+6etch3) ... But there is no second Kernel: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/boot$ ls config-2.6.21-1-multimedia-amd64 initrd.img-2.6.21-1-multimedia-amd64.bak System.map-2.6.21-1-multimedia-amd64 grub memtest86.bin vmlinuz-2.6.21-1-multimedia-amd64 initrd.img-2.6.21-1-multimedia-amd64 memtest86+.bin [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/boot$ The translation of the word "transition" is ambivalent. If it should mean "transformation", than I don't know which kernel has to be installed to be "transformed". Cheers, Ralf
