Best place to check for these options and what they do is:

a) the kernel sources.  There is a wonderful amount of documentation in
there.  Be prepared for some colourful language as well.

b) The LKML (Linux Kernel Mailing List).  Search the archives.  Good
stuff in here, especially when bug hunting.
