Well, the point is that, as other folks have already explained:

- Bluetooth and 802.15.4 are *not* variants of the same thing.
- Bluetooth Low Energy and 802.15.4 are *not* variants of the same thing.

The "802.15" prefix in the spec. code (which only applies to some of the
first Bluetooth versions, and e.g. *not* to BLE) may lead you to
confusion. The analogy with 802.11 variants (as in your example) cannot be
done here.
