Yes, but even if everybody were to switch to Linux/386 as the only available platform, there would remain a niche for something like autoconf, programmers just don't change habits very quickly. The trick is to make sure the next instance isn't as monstrous, knowing that normally the next generation is more monstrous than the previous one. Nice thing is, annihilation does not have to be "careful" :-) ++L
