Yes, Hudson has done a terrific job in implementing shaped notes for abcm2ps
and so did Jeff Moine in improving his program to better favor this feature.
Again, a big thank you for both.
Granted, it is a solfa system not known so well outside North America, but
it has many adepts. There are hundreds of songbooks and hymnals already
printed and being printed with shaped notes.
This feature puts abcm2ps among one of the few programs that can handle such
notation: Finale, Sibelius, MusicEase, Harmony (and Melody) Assistant, MUP
and Lilypond.
Ideally, the instruction for shaped notes should be associated to the "K"
field. But I imagine it would only be possible  if the program abcm2ps would
support shaped notes independently of a format file. Meanwhile, Hudson's
.fmt works really great.
The 7-shape system (Aiken) is, by far (I think), the most used, but the
Sacred Harp system (which I don't know much about) shouldn't be disregarded.
