The problems lie more in libgal than in AbiWord. libgal is moving to fast and too much. Every month is a new MAJOR version released. With the library versionning scheme in UNIX this is causing lot of trouble. Note that when jumping from libc5 to glibc2 (aka libc6) 3 years ago, the problem was the same with ANY software.
