You are not alone!
Your accounts of odd responses from rpm while you were trying to install
the needs of abiword-0.9.4.1 pretty well echo my notes while failing to meet
those needs, although you & I have not used exactly the same versions of
libgal.so.**.
The oddities were why I took the hint that abisource gtk+ download for
abiword-0.9.4.1 might be easier. See my earlier e-mail this afternoon.
Anyway, good luck however you keep trying.
