Hi,
The post is titled as "Rajbhasha Adhikari" and not "Language Officer".
If you are aware of the official language policy Hindi is given the
status of Rajbhasha and not Rashtra bhasha. This means Hindi is
language for governance and not national language. Moreover, as per
official language policy, all government and associated communications
should be in three languages in below sequence (Remember: Font size of
all three language should mandatorily be the same)
1. Local language
2. Rajbhasha (Hindi)
3. English (International language)
>From the above, it is sufficiently clear that local language (or
regional language) has been given due primacy. However, Hindi and
English have been given equal status along with local language for the
benefit of citizens across the country.
I also expect that you will be considerate enough that besides the
four south Indian states other Indian states from east, west and north
have their regional language. They speak and respect their regional
language; even many may not be knowing Hindi but do not brew
anti-Hindi sentiments. Anti-Hindi sentiments in some parts of the
country is politically motivated and not in the interest of economic
and national integration. If we are willing to accept English as
second language which was imposed on us by our colonial masters, it is
not progressive to have anti-Hindi sentiments. As far as 22 Indian
languages are concerned, Hindi is spoken by maximum percentage of
population. Also obligations as per official language policy is not
same across India. For that purpose, our country has been segmented
into 3 or 4 segments depending on the fraction of population speaking
Hindi.
Please also be advised that official language policy is applicable not
only in banks but across all all governments and public organizations
across India.
