I would fairly say so to use a all around antivirus, but I guess now since it is fairly effected, and the system is slow, its better to re-install the operating system. Yeah, I guess each antivirus would have its rootkit protection as well. Well if it doesn't I'm not sure, you can get a spyware protection, like spybat search and destroy, or Malwarebytes antivirus, etc. So antivirus plays a main role here.
