Rajesh, Dylexia would fall under the "Mental Retardation" category and not "Mental Illness" under the existing framework of disabilities defined under the PWD Act - though the two are very different from each other. However, CBSE doesn't insist on the disability certificate which may be required under the PWD Act to avail various concessions for dyslexia.
Hence, a certificate from a psychiatrist/psychologist should do. However, it would be advisable to approach a competent medical board (generally the district hospitals) with the existing medical papers from the specialist doctors etc for for issuance of a disability certificate. -- Warm regards, Subhash Chandra Vashishth Advocate Mobile: +91 (11) 9811125521 Please don't print this e-mail unless you really need to.
