Hello,

While this may seem like a good option right now, it won't be really
beneficial in the long run.
I do agree that the scribe can make spelling mistakes, but the only
way to combat that is to select a good writer who is proficient in
English.
Another way could be to give internal school/college exams with the
same scribe who is slated to write the papers for the VI student in
the university or board exams. This technique can enable the VI
student to figure out the most glaring mistakes of the writer so
that he/she can prevent those mistakes in the main exam.
Many a time, if the examiner knows that a particular answer paper is
of a VI candidate, his method of checking the paper changes
drastically.
Generally, for some reason, visually impaired students are believed
to have below-average intelligence. So, the examiner might give
average marks even if the paper is exceptionally well written.
Similarly, he may give outstanding marks even to an average student
merely on account of sympathy or his sheer amazement on seeing that
visually impaired people are also capable of writing an exam
reasonably well.
I guess I'm just babbling, so I'll stop here. ;)
