Oh I forgot to add:  even with nolapic_timer UNSET, (as per the boot options I
mentioned in comment #10 above,) the powertop output shows NO C-state
information.

Are we running ok because we're doing different interrupt handling, or because
we never enter the C3 state?

In an attempt to provide more useful information, I will reboot with options:
"acpi_skip_timer_override printk.time=1" and provide that dmesg output.
