Maybe its superstition, but when I suspend to RAM immediately after a boot, the
shutdown happens only about every other two weeks. Without the suspend, the
temperature shutdown occurs every other hour.

Now I am up since 6 days :D

BTW. there is code in the thermal driver to perform a shutdown due to high
temperature. But even after disabling the thermal driver, the shutdown occurs.
So I think, the shutdown is initiated by EC and BIOS directly.
