Wei Huang ([email protected]) changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |[email protected] --- Comment #4 from Wei Huang ([email protected]) --- Hi Amir, A status update on this bug, which unfortunately has a twist. The quirk patch I posted here earlier was briefly applied to a maintainer review branch, but Lenovo's firmware team has since done a deeper verification and found that the X9-14 Gen 1 does not use the same non-standard register offsets as the other models in the existing quirk tables - some of its EC register offsets are unique to this platform. Applying the generic quirk would have made the driver read the wrong registers (reporting bogus temperatures), so the patch has been withdrawn (a "nack" from the Lenovo-side maintainer on the mailing list). The good news: - Lenovo is aware of the problem internally (the maintainer on the thread is from Lenovo), and they are getting the updated EC register specification from their firmware team and working on the correct upstream fix. So the symptom you reported is confirmed real and now has Lenovo's attention - but the fix needs to come from the accurate register mapping, not the generic quirk table. Please keep this bug open until the correct fix lands; you may be asked to test it on your machine, which would be very helpful. Sorry for the back-and-forth, and thanks for your patience - the silver lining is that your report is what surfaced this platform's unique EC layout to both the community and Lenovo.
