Will - could you elaborate a little bit on what your delivery tracking actually does ?

Is the customer acknowledging receipt of the email by clicking on the image ? What's the purpose of 'logging' the image request in the database ?

The mail he sent is an HTML message which has an embedded image. The source url for the image is on his server, which tracks the source via info in the url query and then delivers the image.

So it actually tracks how many people read the message with image loading on. I have my mail client configured to NOT load images by default, so unless I wanted to see the images in the message he would not get a hit, even though I read the message. But I'm sure I am in the minority in this case.
