I've often used WordPad as well for making a quick change, although this is
on Windows 2003 Server and XP. Never had a problem either. Files remain in
TEXT format and work perfectly with A4D.

So I guess the moral of the story is, don't use WordPad on Vista?

Pretty frustrating situation you ran into--glad you were able to figure it
out (and post your experiences here to help others avoid it).

Maybe send the corrupted file to Aparajita so he can take a look at it? (Not
that he can do anything about fixing it, but maybe put something in his file
reading/parsing routines to deal with it?)
