You will never know how I broke my brain trying to maintain backwards compatibility without crippling new functionality.

I know from my own work that it's hugely tempting just to ditch legacy functionality. The fact that you didn't does a great credit to the commercial viability of the product. FWIW, I am still using "Auto Create Vars" on one my main site, even though I know I should be using the collections. There are simply so many business level coding priorities vying for attention that small legacy support features like this are a life saver.

At the same time, at the other end of the scale, I've got a Fusebox project in the pipeline (done to demo level for the client who were very pleased. Hopefully they will get some funding this year to deploy it).

The fact that the same version of Active4D can stretch across these two massively different implementations is absolutely fantastic, even though there obviously comes a point where features have to drop off the scene (fine - gives me an excuse to up the priority of sorting out old code).
