This is fairly common, particularly if you follow the standard method of
taking a BDC offline prior to upgrading your NT4 domain to AD. I found
the following information useful:

ol/windows2000serv/reskit/distsys/part5/dsgappc.asp

(watch for URL wrapping)

Look at the section under "Managing Orphaned Metadata"

Subject: [ActiveDir] removing NT 'BDC' from users and computers

We are currently running ADS with about 4 NT BDC still.

We've taken 2 old NT BDC offline for good.

But they still show up in AD users and computers in the domain controllers
OU.

I've tried just right clicking and deleting them, but I get an error. The
DSA object cannot be deleted.

I've looked though technet and it was pointing me toward Ntdsutil, but It
doesn't seem to be able to do anything with downlevel servers.

Anyone have any ideas?
