If you want to change the computer name you need to demote the server, wait for replication then change the server name at this stage I would re ip the server, then dcpromo the server again.
This is of course assuming you have multiple DC's if not and it's only for 3 months keep then why not keep the name and just change the IP address. Make sure DNS functions correctly.
