The general drill is, drop the sucker into your python path, and it
works.  Haven't found an exception yet.

I had a look at the gmpy project at SourceForge; I note that one of
the gmpy developers is Alex Martelli.  He's very active and helpful on
the python newsgroup; have you tried contacting him?

I also note that SourceForge's gmpy is designated "pre-alpha". I don't
expect much from pre-alpha code in any language (even when written by
Alex Martelli);  I expect it to stagger around just about working,
but not quite useful.
