Good catch. Lowtech and Access-Space have the same root, they're initiatives of James Wallbank. Lowtech is more the recycling interface that provides hardware for Access-Space and any other interested (arts) organisation in the U.K. This and the GYOML project were headed and are (still) managed by James. The U.K is a much larger country than ours yet still, as Morgan Barnard points out, many young machines are being exported from NZ for recycling that could otherwise serve as perfectly good workstations (or other role) in a grass-roots media-arts context. There's an opportunity here for the clever (and organised).
