Honestly, if CLUE's purpose > isn't advocacy, what do you see it's purpose being? I think you need to be fair about what a small group of people can do, and what the audience is. CLUE's main asset is it's domain name of Linux.ca which will bring random people to your website that are not already connected. In circles already doing advocacy (which is where I spend most of my personal tim), the new CanOpenER.ca is much better known even though it hasn't been around as long as CLUE. CLUE is seen as a group supporting LUGS , not as a group doing advocacy work. If it wasn't for a message in CanOpenER.ca's mailing lists suggesting I join CLUE's mailing lists, I would not have done so. The fact that this discussion about advocacy was happening was announced on CanOpenER http://www.canopener.ca/pipermail/discuss/2002-July/000523.html I joined CLUE early on (got my [EMAIL PROTECTED] email address) and then didn't see much activity in the Advocacy area which is the only area of interest to me. I am glad this discussion is happening, and I do hope that those working on advocacy in Canada will pool their resources. While unfortunate for CLUE if the intention was to do advocacy, the current best place to keep on top of "Linux, Open Source and Free Software advocacy" in Canada is [EMAIL PROTECTED] Join via: http://www.canopener.ca/mailman/listinfo/discuss --- Russell McOrmond, Internet Consultant: <http://www.flora.ca/> See http://weblog.flora.ca/ for announcements, activities, and opinions Getting Open Source and Linux INto GovernmentS | No2Violence in Politics http://www.flora.org/dmca/forum/942 | http://www.no-dot.ca/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
