I don't know that we should get into this here, but being that you are
the strongest promoter of Zope I know of (well, only ;-), I know what
claimed "higher quality" stuff you are suggesting ;-)

The lack of popularity and the time to personally do a security audit is
one of the main reasons I have rejected the use of Zope on my own systems.
Commercially, I have indicated that I would only offer Zope as part of a
managed (dedicated) server as I am not willing to install it on an
existing virtual server.

The "many eyes make bugs shallow" is both a reflection on how well the
code is written in the first place, but also how many eyes are looking.

While the programming langauge issue (PHP vs Python) isn't an issue for
me as I suspect I could learn Python quickly, it was a consideration for
the GoC. They could easily get PERL and PHP developers, but most people
haven't even heard of Python yet. Not to start a "vi vs Emacs" language
war, but the MailMan list manager is quite often the only reason why
people have Python installed on their server at all.
