Bob writes "I'm picking up on the "camera firewire died" comment."
Yeah.
It was a dandy li'l Handicam and it still is, but it's a "B" camera now, 'cause
I can't xfer to the computer from it anymore. I borrow other cameras to do so
and everything works fine.
I took it to a shop and was told the price tag for repair was a thousand bucks,
so, it stays a "B" camera for now.
I happen to have a waterbag for it, so I'll probably use it for underwater
shooting, and my travel camera.
Other cameras work great on it, as long as I can find a matching device control
profile under Premiere. If I can't find a matching device control, I can't
control the device.
Which is why I was wondering if there were update packs for device control, or
if Premiere's device control is like the old printer control in WordPerfect --
once you have your list, you're stuck with that list.
"Possibly some operation such as unplugging cables at wrong times, etc.?"
Yeah, I considered the same thing. Firewire's supposed to be hot-swap, though,
right? I mean, hot-swappin' the other camera's never caused a problem.
Another film-buddy of mine said that he's had a couple of Sony's firewire go
out. Fortunately they were under warranty, but the tech told him it's pretty
common among Sony cameras. Really?!
"I am also puzzled and annoyed."
Yeah. Gee, for a thousand bucks what kind of NEW camera could I get...
underwater monkey,
Edward
