Jeff writes "keep in mind, if a camera is not listed in the device control
profile, this does not mean you cannot control the device."
Fair enough.
It is my experience that when borrowing a camera or deck, if I cannot find a
profile that matches that camera or deck, then I am unable to use that device.
When I have been able to find a profile, I have ben able to control the device.
I may have assumed a relationship where there was none.
"But this does not mean that Premiere cannot connect nor control the camera.
Rather, if a device isn't listed, it *could* mean that Premiere hasn't been
certified to control it, and/or there may be some lingering control issues."
Okay, I'll buy that.
I went through a collection of, um, half a dozen cameras and a MiniDV deck.
MOST of them, surprisingly, when I plugged 'em into the firewire and powered
everything up, were NOT recognized even by the OS (so Premiere didn't have a
chance). The XL-1 was and the TRV900 were recognbized and when they were
recognized, then I could get Premiere to see them, too.
There was one camera, a fairly cheap one, that the firewire recognized, but
Premiere refused to. I was able to capture video using Windows MovieMaker, but
Premiere crashed when I imported it.
"Also, what version of Premiere are you using?"
