My Sony NX5 records on SD cards. I got a special software with it to copy
the files to the computer which I use for two reasons.
1 The camera records maximum file sizes of 2Gb. When you do longer
recordings
the software will stitch the sections together to one big file. If one
copies the files with
Windows from the camera or with a card reader you will get individual
short 2Gb clips and
you loose a few frames.
2. The software creates a nice index similar to Adobe Bridge.
You will obviously only get big files when you record concerts, lectures
etc.
For "normal" videos that would not be a problem and the clips can be
copied with Windows
and used in Premiere.
