Yes video players are able to detect resolution of the monitor and
play in full screen, filling from edge to edge. When I tried to do
this with FCP I was surprised it isn't possible. FCP can play
anything in full screen but then all controls disappear so it
basically only suitable for viewing your footage before or after
editing, or during a break.
This is just another example of not getting the most out of
computers. Technically it's possible, but nobody ever thought about
adding a "full screen" button.
By the way Mike, can you not move the screen to the left a little,
then enlarge it, make it a bit larger as your screen so that you
don't see the control buttons anymore, then move it back in place and
save layout in Premiere?
