You can drag an edge of any still on the timeline to any length you need
(but you have to align it with the audio waveform activity yourself). It is
that easy. (By way of explanation, stills themselves are 1 frame each but
are repeated during import as n frames according to your Edit > Preferences
> General, Still Image Default Duration (in CS6; I remember CS5 has
something very similar), so yours could be 1 frame, 30 frames, 300 frames,
or whatever. This is effective only at the moment of import, and is useful
as a convenience for slide shows.)

Unfortunately your 480x320 stills are painfully small and will give
undoubtedly give you clarity trouble when you scale them up to fit the video
frame. I know of no way that you can reliably scale up and get good results.
(My cameras give me 5184x3456 and 2560x1930 so I'm always scaling down and
I'm not faced with your problem, sorry).

Subject: [AP] how to increase duration of stills to match audio / up res
stills ?

I have a set of stills, around 20, on timeline and want to stretch them to
match length of audio...please advise the method

These stills in Premiere CS5 are 480 x 320 1.0
they are small jpg anywhere from 19 to 53 KB ....
the sequence and project is Standard Def 720 x 480

is there any solution to improve the res of the photos within Premiere or
does this require using special software to up res ..Photoshop CS5 or
Lightroom 4 ?

thanks
